This Ninja Creami Dole Whip (Pineapple) recipe is a refreshing and creamy treat you can whip up in minutes. With just a few simple ingredients, you'll enjoy a homemade version of the beloved Disney Dole Whip, perfect for a hot summer day.
Save For Later! 💌
Dole Whip always reminds me of our unforgettable family trip to the Dole Plantation in Hawaii. The moment I tasted the creamy pineapple soft serve, I was hooked. But as much as I love its tropical flavor, the original Dole Whip can be a bit too sweet for my liking. Luckily, with the Ninja Creami, I can recreate this classic at home with the perfect level of sweetness.
Not only is this homemade version customizable, but it’s also a healthier alternative to the theme park treat. It’s become one of my favorite summer recipes, just like my go-to Mango Ice Cream and refreshing Coconut Vanilla Ice Cream. With the Ninja Creami, I’ve also tried fun variations like Strawberry Ice Cream, Blueberry Ice Cream, Jackfruit Ice Cream, and Watermelon Sorbet! Whether we’re reminiscing about our Hawaiian vacation or craving something fruity like Raspberry Sorbet, this Dole Whip recipe is always a hit.
The best part is that the kids love making it with me, turning it into a fun family tradition. So, if you’re a fan of Dole Whip or just love refreshing summer desserts, you have to try this recipe.

What is Dole Whip?
Dole Whip is a soft-serve ice cream that was originally created by the Dole Food Company in 1986. This iconic treat quickly gained popularity at Disney theme parks, especially at Walt Disney World’s Enchanted Tiki Room, where it became a must-try for visitors. Traditionally made with pineapple juice, Dole Whip is known for its creamy texture and refreshing pineapple flavor, which makes it the perfect treat on a hot day.
Over the years, Dole Whip has become synonymous with Disney and is now available in a variety of flavors, including orange, lemon, and raspberry. However, the classic pineapple version remains the most popular and beloved by fans.
Ingredients
Here’s what you will need:
- Pineapple chunks: I used canned pineapple chunks for convenience, but fresh pineapple chunks work just as well.
- Soy Milk: Creamy and dairy-free, making this recipe vegan-friendly and smooth.
- Agave Syrup: A natural sweetener that adds just the right amount of sweetness.
See recipe card for quantities.
Substitution And Additions
- Pineapple: Swap with mango or jackfruit for different tropical flavors.
- Agave: Use honey or maple syrup for a different sweetener or skip this altogether!
- Soy Milk: Replace with almond, oat, or coconut milk for different textures.
- Banana: Some people add bananas to their Dole Whip for a more authentic taste. Personally, I prefer it without, but feel free to try adding half a banana and see what you think.
How to Make Dole Whip using Ninja Creami?
- In a blender, combine pineapple, milk and sweetener (if using).Pour the blended mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, making sure it does not exceed the max fill line.
- Pour the blended pineapple mixture into the Ninja Creami pint container. Make sure the mixture is level and flat on the surface to ensure even freezing. Place the container in the freezer and let it freeze for at least 24 hours.
- After the mixture is fully frozen, place the container into the outer bowl, attach the lid, and process using the "Lite Ice Cream" setting on the Ninja Creami machine. This setting is perfect for creating that soft-serve texture that Dole Whip is famous for. *see notes
- Scoop the Dole Whip into bowls and top with your favorite toppings
*NOTE: Once the first spin is complete, check the texture of your Dole Whip. If it’s too dense or icy, don’t worry! Simply add a splash of milk (coconut milk or any milk) to the mixture and process again. This will help achieve that smooth, creamy consistency.
Topping and Mix-in Suggestions
- Coconut Flakes: Toasted coconut flakes add a tropical twist and a bit of crunch to your Dole Whip. Simply sprinkle them on top for an extra burst of flavor.
- Fresh Fruit: For an added layer of freshness, mix in some fresh pineapple chunks, strawberries, or mangoes. These fruits complement the pineapple flavor beautifully and add a bit of texture to your treat.
- Maple Syrup: Drizzle a bit of maple syrup over your Dole Whip for added sweetness. It’s a great way to balance the tanginess of the pineapple.
- Vanilla Protein Powder: If you’re looking to make your Dole Whip a bit more filling, mix in a scoop of vanilla protein powder. It adds a subtle vanilla flavor and turns your treat into a protein-packed dessert.
- Chocolate Chips: For a fun and indulgent twist, sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top. The combination of chocolate and pineapple is surprisingly delicious and adds a bit of sweetness to each bite.
- Whipped Cream: Add a dollop of whipped cream on top for extra indulgence. It’s the perfect finishing touch to this creamy, tropical dessert.
Variations
- Mango Dole Whip: Substitute pineapples with mango for a smooth, tropical twist.
- Coconut Pineapple Dole Whip: Add coconut milk to the mix for a creamier, richer version.
- Jackfruit Dole Whip: Use jackfruit for a Southeast Asian take on the classic.
- Banana Pineapple Swirl: Mix banana with pineapple for a sweeter, thicker texture.
💪🏼Make It High Protein
- Add Protein Powder: Mix in a scoop of your favorite vanilla or unflavored protein powder.
- Greek Yogurt: Substitute a portion of the soy milk with high-protein Greek yogurt.
👍🏼Make It Less Sugar
- Use Monk Fruit Sweetener: A sugar-free alternative that doesn’t sacrifice sweetness.
- Stevia Drops: A few drops go a long way to cutting down sugar.
- Skip the Agave: Let the natural sweetness of the pineapple shine by skipping the added sweetener.
