If you love tropical ice creams like mango, lychee, jackfruit, or ube, this Ninja Creami dragon fruit ice cream belongs in your freezer. It’s creamy and lightly sweet.
Even better, it’s a 3-ingredient base- just dragon fruit, half and half, and sweetened condensed milk.

I’m absolutely hooked on my Ninja Creami ice cream maker. Any fruit that comes through the door instantly becomes a new flavor. Lately I’ve been on a full tropical streak, the kind where you’re bouncing between acai bowl and dole whip.
This week’s obsession? Dragon fruit. It’s mild, super creamy once it spins, and it turns your pint this ridiculously pretty shade of pink that makes it look way fancier than the effort you put in.

Why You’ll Love It
- Only 3 ingredients (no extra thickeners, no powders)
- Creamy + scoopable after a quick Respin
- Naturally bright color that screams “tropical dessert”
- Costco-friendly ingredients (hello, frozen dragon fruit)
- Mild, kid-friendly flavor (not tart, not weird)
What Does Dragon Fruit Taste Like
Dragon fruit has a subtly sweet flavor reminiscent of a blend between kiwi and pear, with a texture similar to a melon. Its flesh can range from white to deep magenta, each variety offering a unique balance of sweetness and mild acidity. Packed with nutrients and antioxidants, it's a refreshing addition to fruit salads, smoothies, and desserts.
Ingredients
Here's what you will need:
- Dragon Fruit: Provides a vibrant color, subtle sweetness, and creamy texture to the ice cream. Use fresh or frozen.
- Half and Half: Combines the richness of cream and milk for a smooth and creamy base.
- Condensed Milk: Adds sweetness and a luscious, velvety texture to the ice cream.
See recipe card for quantities.
Add-Ins & Swaps
- More tangy: add 1–2 teaspoons lime juice (still tropical, more punchy).
- More “fruit-forward”: use all dragon fruit purée instead of chunks (smoothest flavor).
- Dairy swap: you can use whole milk, but it’ll spin a little icier than half and half.
Topping / Mix-In Suggestions
- Toasted coconut flakes (the crunch is perfect)
- Fresh mango or pineapple on top like you’re at a resort
- A squeeze of lime + pinch of flaky salt (sounds extra, tastes bright)
Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a blender, combine dragon fruit (skin removed), condensed milk, half and half, monk fruit. Blend until smooth. Pour the blended mixture into a Ninja Creami pint container, making sure it does not exceed the max fill line.
- Place the pint container in the freezer and freeze for at least 18-24 hours.
- After freezing, remove the pint container from the freezer and place it into the Ninja Creami machine. Attach the pint holder lid and lock it into place. Select the "Lite Ice Cream" setting and let the Ninja Creami process the mixture.
- If the mixture is crumbly after the first spin, select the "Respin" function and process again until you achieve a creamy consistency.
- Scoop the dragon fruit ice cream into bowls and top with your favorite toppings, such toasted shredded coconut flakes.

Recipe FAQs
Yes. Blend them fully with the dairy. Let the frozen fruit sit 5 minutes if your blender struggles.
Dragon fruit bases do that. Use Respin, and add 1–2 tablespoons half and half if it’s still dry.
You can, but it may turn out less creamy and more icy. If you cut it, expect an extra Respin.
