½cupevaporated milk or any drinking milknonfat, low-fat or whole

Instructions
Activate the yeast: In a bowl, combine yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
Make the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, evaporated milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix until the dough comes together.
Knead the dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let the dough rise: Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Roll and cut: Once the dough has risen, roll it out to about ¼ inch thick and cut it into squares.
Fry the beignets: Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the beignets in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
Dust with powdered sugar: Remove the beignets from the oil and immediately dust with powdered sugar.
